A sociopath often gets bored easily and frequently. This is partly because they need to experience intense mental stimulation to feel engaged in activities. Some individuals might feel like they can't feel any pleasure or interest unless they're actively interacting with something interesting. This means sociopaths are constantly searching for new things to capture their attention. The search is part of what predisposes them toward impulsive and addictive behaviors. Those with antisocial personality disorder often describe their boredom as being an emotional state of restlessness and agitation that won't abate until they find something to do. The feelings of emptiness can be unbearable, and they only tend to worsen with every passing moment. Some researchers theorize the constant boredom is due to an inability to make meaningful connections with others or the world surrounding them. This lack of presence in the world leads to feelings of detachment and disinterest. Researchers also theorize the search for stimulation occurs because boredom leads to self-reflection, and sociopaths can't stand to face themselves or their character flaws.

Can Be Quick To Anger

Sociopaths can often be quick to anger. This anger may be due to agitation with others, but it's also often rooted in anxiety. A sociopath might go from calm to explosive anger seemingly without warning. Their temper might make people tiptoe around them or avoid conflict. Sociopaths struggle to engage in emotional regulation, so it's hard for them to keep their cool in a stressful situation. If they're confronted by an angry individual, they're more likely to respond with anger. Emotional outbursts are characteristic of a sociopath, particularly when the individual seems charming and manipulative the rest of the time. However, not everyone who is quick to anger meets the criteria for antisocial personality disorder and thus not for a sociopath. Some individuals might have another personality disorder, like borderline personality disorder or narcissistic personality disorder. Irrational and explosive anger can also be a sign of a variety of other psychological and neurological disorders.
