Emerging evidence suggests that omeprazole may play a role in cancer prevention, particularly in reducing the risk of esophageal adenocarcinoma, a complication of chronic GERD. By controlling acid reflux and preventing the progression of Barrett's esophagus, a precancerous condition, omeprazole may contribute to reducing cancer incidence.
