Coconut water is often marketed as a healthy, hydrating drink—but for those with kidney issues, it can be risky. Just one cup can contain over 600 mg of potassium, which is problematic for compromised kidneys that struggle to filter excess minerals. While it's touted as a natural electrolyte replacement, this “health drink” can quietly tip potassium levels into dangerous territory.

Beets are rich in antioxidants and fiber, but they also pack a potassium punch—over 500 mg per cup cooked. That makes them a risky choice for individuals managing kidney disease. Even beet juice, often used as a wellness tonic, can cause potassium levels to spike dangerously high. The naturally occurring nitrates may help with blood pressure but aren't worth the trade-off if your kidneys can’t regulate minerals properly.
