One of the easiest and most overlooked ways to reduce swelling and discoloration is by elevating the bruised area—especially if it’s on a limb. Keeping the bruise elevated above heart level helps limit blood flow to the area and supports drainage through your lymphatic system. Try propping your arm or leg on a pillow while resting, or if your bruise is on your foot, lie down with your legs up against the wall for a few minutes a few times a day.
