Apple cider vinegar is a substance that can offer multiple health benefits, provided individuals don't have too much. Studies indicate apple cider vinegar can lower an individual's overall blood sugar and promote weight loss. One tablespoon of apple cider vinegar has around three calories and nearly no carbohydrates. The vinegar is made through two-step fermentation, but the main active component is acetic acid. When individuals digest acetic acid, it dissolves into hydrogen and acetate. The health benefits of acetic acid include lowering blood sugar, improving metabolism, decreasing insulin, and reducing fat storage. The acid has also been shown to burn fat in mice and suppress appetite, though more research needs to be done with human populations to confirm the results researchers have seen in animals.

Coconut oil is a fat that helps individuals lose weight. The substance has a combination of different fatty acids that can all improve an individual's metabolism. Researchers have done studies indicating individuals adding a coconut oil supplement to their regular diet can help them lose fat. Many individuals burned fat in the 'dangerous' area of the abdominal cavity doing just that, according to these studies. Unlike many other fats, coconut oil uses medium-chain triglycerides, which are acids that improve metabolism. Unlike long-chain fats, medium-chain acids are sent from the liver to the digestive tract right away. They're either turned into ketone bodies or immediately used for energies. Some animal studies show medium-chain fats may be easier to burn than other fats.
