Scarring is a common risk for individuals who undergo numerous cosmetic procedures. Scarring occurs when an individual's body heals the tissues damaged from the cosmetic procedure with scar tissue, which is denser and more fibrous. The eyebrow lift that carries the highest risk of extensive scarring is the classical lift that utilizes a large incision behind an individual's hairline that extends from one ear to the other.

Scarring can develop more prominently when a patient also experiences a postprocedural infection at the incision site. An infection can require further surgical intervention at the site of the incision or poor wound healing. These complications in any cosmetic surgical procedure increase the risk of undesirable scarring significantly. There is also a small risk that the results of the eyebrow lift will not be satisfactory. Thus, the individual will need to undergo revision surgery. Any type of revision surgery that requires additional incisions increases the chances of scarring.
