This drill trains the critical skill of shifting your body weight quickly and safely, which is essential for turning corners or stepping around obstacles. Stand with your feet hip-width apart. Lift one foot slightly and slowly pivot your body 180 degrees (a half-turn) while balancing on the standing leg. As you pivot, shift your weight dynamically over the standing foot's arch and heel. Land lightly with your lifted foot to stabilize the new direction, then repeat the pivot back to the start. This exercise strengthens the small stabilizer muscles in the ankle, knee, and hip, and forces your brain to coordinate complex, rotational movements under full body weight, significantly improving stability during unexpected changes in direction.
